Ice Storm 2KTen

From Friday morning to late that afternoon, for once, went exactly as the forecast planned! Over the day we accumulated 1/2" ice and 6 inches of snow which now meant we were in for the weekend!

Jon unfortunatley had to go to work Friday & the kid's preschool was of course closed so me and the kids stayed home for my first attempt at "working from home." This is in quote because I quickly learned after my 9 am conference call that an infant and a toddler are not a good combination. I got as much done as I could and spent the extra time keeping these two munchkins occupied.

Then Saturday rolls around, Eva wakes up with a cough worse than the day before and a runny nose. Jon was still not feeling good (going on two weeks straight) and so Mom was left to entertain indoors once again.

Bless her heart, Eva was dying to go check out the snow for herself.

Instead we snuggled and played and played and played! (This was my view from the couch... sweet Kellan snoozin on me and Eva being the entertainment. I was a very happy Momma!)

Being stuck inside has its consequences though. 5 minutes of quiet meant for trouble when I came around the corner and saw Eva playing in Gabby's water bowl! But hey, if thats the worse thing that happened all day, I am perfectly fine!

After naps they were ready to go again. Kellan happy as a lark and Eva wanting to give him kisses every chance she can.

Like I said, Miss Entertainer was in full force all afternoon, playing songs...

Riding her pony...

And the ultimate was the discovery of her tutu. While we were reading books in her room she got in her closet and discovered her tutu. I really thought it would be too big for her but nope! She loved it. Danced around. I taught her how to twirl and she even wanted to take her afternoon power nap in it. I guess she's as ready for the dance classes as Momma is!

Sunday was more of the same until I had the idea of an afternoon activity. Since she couldnt go out in the snow, I brought it in to her. We were quite the team making SNOW ICE CREAM. This was my first go at it and I think it went great. Eva was a great helper, of course, and I loved having her big enough now to do these kinds of things. Oh what fun we have ahead of us!

I know that these moments are fleeting and so I really tried to soak up every minute. I know I need to go back to work tomorrow for lots of reasons but I gotta say I'll miss my days with them for sure. I am so lucky to have two great kids that make being stuck in the house for three days so much fun!

Bye Bye Baby Mullet!

Tuesday night we said goodbye to the baby mullet and hello to the big kid do!

"Before"

Eva turned 15 months old Monday and I had been putting off the inevitable hair cut for some time. She doesnt have alot of hair so I was hesitant to cut what she does but I'd had it with the excess length only in the back! So at my appt I had Aubrey cut hers too! She wasnt too sure about it but one this was for sure Mom was thankful and she loved the spinning chair.

Too much going on so the picture is blurry but this was the "after" shot. Yay! All one length in the back so it can start growing more evenly!

Weeeeee!!!!

She kept saying "more" when I'd stop! Eva spun and spun and ran around looking in all the mirrors (sorry no pic of that because I was too busy chasing her)!! So glad there weren't many people at the salon at 6:00 at night! We had too much fun!

Social Butterfly

Eva has most recently become quite the little social butterfly. Every day I pick Eva up her teacher is always telling me stories of how she plays with the kids in her class, she pats them to sleep, and how she feeds the kid who wont eat. But mostly the stories revolve around her first little boyfriend, Xander. Its abosolutely hysterical. I drop Eva off and he comes running to greet her. She waves hi and bye to him everyday. I know they give kisses and this past week her teacher sent me proof of their first dance (see above) and what I coined their first "date" (see below).

Eva and Xander are inseparable and I think its too cute. They started in the baby room together, moved to the toddler room a few weeks apart and have the best time playing together. As Jon said, he better treat her right!!

Whittakers Big Week

It's been a big week at the Whittaker house! All sorts of emotions were felt each and everyday but they all boil down to : we are so blessed.

The biggest news is Jon has officially changed careers and is gainfully employed at JBHunt as a fleet manager. Its been an adjustment to a 7-5 and early bedtimes schedule but family dinners and weekends home seem to be worth it! We know there are great opportunities still to come but this leap of faith was the first step in a new and exciting chapter of our lives.

Equally as great is that I have a great new opportunity at my job. Before leave I was facing a scary reality I could have been let go due to the loss of our client. Fortunately on Tuesday, January 19th I returned to TracyLocke with a great future ahead of me on the new Hewlett-Packard account. Its been a challenge to get up to speed quickly but I know the new experience will be worth it in the long run!

These two big events meant one more... both kids started full time childcare as well! I can not tell you how comforting it is to know my kids are in the most wonderful hands during the day. The teachers and kids have been an incredible experience for Eva so I was anxious to get Kellan there too. I love the peace of mind of knowing I dont have to worry and can check on them (thank you webcams) anytime I want. The girls that take care of these kids are angels in my heart and thank them everyday!

Eva and Kellan Excited to go to school together now!

Does it get any better than waking up to these happy faces!?

My Little Man is growing up too fast!

This week also marked a milestone in Kellan's life. Wednesday he turned 12 weeks old! Kellan has been the most perfect addition to our family and its a joy to watch him start to come into his own little sweet self. He is the best snuggler, sometimes too good in fact because he prefers sleeping with Mommy than his own bed. He has the biggest smile I have ever seen in the mornings which makes my new wake up time of 5:30 am a little more tolerable. And he has me wrapped around his finger. I am reminded everyday of the two miracles these babies are.

Kellan you are my little man and always will be!

You have all seen the pic of Eva and her first spaghetti experience, right!? Well the love of italian food was confirmed with ravioli night!!! Just makes me laugh. Watching her eat this was like watching her discover food for the first time. She couldn't get it in her mouth fast enough which is what prompted her first attempt at a fork by herself too. This slowed her down a bit but added to the fun of dinner time. Who would have thought this would become one of my favorite times of the day!

(Notice she is only focused on the ravioli and not the veggies... we are NOT fans of veggie but I keep trying!)

Officially a Walker

Couple people have been asking to see Eva walking. Thanks to the blog world, here you go! (PS- please note how freaking cute it is that she holds her hands behind her back. Quite the priss we have on our hands)

Snuggle Bugs

Couldnt resist posting the sweet snuggle bugs from their New Year's Morning Nap. Dad's a sucker for letting E nap in our bed on the weekends and now I know why! They are definitely smitten with each other and I love it!

Bye Bye Bottles

Its been a big week. Against Eva's wishes, one kid is done with bottles. Hooray!! She actually did just fine. Jon will tell you she doesn't like her morning milk from a sippy cup as much but I think he's nuts. She cant be in Kindergarten with a bottle! But its such a relief to only be cleaning bottles for one. Two was out of control! However, its just one more thing reminding me that my big girl is getting bigger everyday! I had to take a picture before I took her name off these in anticipation of transferring them to Kellan!
