Dad wins out!

Well, I didnt believe it when I picked Eva up from school yesterday. On her little daily activity sheet said "Sounded like she was saying "Daddy" all morning long- so cute!" Really? She's 7 months old, thats way too early to be saying anything so I told Jon because it was a cute story but thought these girls had lost their mind.

Much to my surprise I was in the bathroom getting ready this morning and sure enough I hear this adorable sound coming from the angel in my bed. She was very clearly saying "Dada, dada, dada" and just smiling away like it was just normal. While it made my whole morning and proceeded to try and get her to say it for Jon on the phone, I was kind of sad. After all this time we get together, THAT'S her first word!!! So now we are going to be working on Mama as much as we can!

Even with Jon's travel schedule, I guess she really is a Daddy's girl after all.

Couldnt Stand It

Warning!! Please excuse the excessive nudity ;-) My child is going to resent these one day but thats why I am the Mom now!

Tonight, I couldn't resist getting pictures of this perfect little hinnie! A friend of ours suggested to let Eva go without a diaper a little bit a day (to help prevent/cure diaper rash) so when we got home today I decided playtime could be naked time! Let me just tell you, she loves it and thinks its hysterical when I tickle her and grab her hinnie anytime but especially when its not on the changing table. So while we were playing I snapped a couple pictures. Totally make me love her more everyday! Yes, a cute tushy has that effect one me. Wouldnt you agree?!?!

Rub a Dub

You'd never know it by the look on this angel's face that as a newborn, she hated bathtime. Jon and I would bathe her as fast as possible, dry her off and get lotion, a diaper and pjs on her very quickly. She'd scream the whole time and then it was over. Nowadays are much different. She LOVES, I mean loves bathtime. Splashing, toys, the water, even the cup I use to rinse her off is fun which makes it one of the highlights of my night. Now that she can sit up on her own we've started using the duck bath tub and its just so much better. She can keep all her toys within reach, splash and sit up like a big girl. What fun time for us at night and had to have this picture on her for you all to see as well. Happy Bathtime everyone!

Eva's Going to be a Big Sister!

Please excuse the blurry picture and focus on the good news!
God works in amazing ways!

Yes, its true. Some of you may know and this may be news to some but Eva is going to be a big sister! In fact she's getting a little brother for her birthday this year! We found out a while ago but took us a little while to share the news so I am now already 15+ weeks along and found out this week (thank you Dr. Hinton) that its a boy! So the kids are going to be a year apart as I am due 11/3. If any of you are loyal followers of the blog you'll know thats a 363 days after Eva's due date! Its been quite the emotional roller coaster but I can say that for all we have been through we are so grateful and humbled for another sweet angel to join our crazy family! Please be praying for Jon, Eva and I as we begin preparing for the arrival of baby boy Whittaker and look forward to keeping the blog going for both kids now! What a joy!

Monday Night Happy Time

In the insanity of my day I tend to lose sight on what matters. Jon reminded me on my way home that all the junk I worry about doesnt matter to Eva. All she wants is Momma to play with her. So play is what we did. Thanks for the great advice honey!

While I wish I could bottle up Eva's laugh, this is as close as I can get thanks to the magic of the internet.

I swear, this girl is amazing and cant get enough of her.
Hope it makes you smile as much as it did me and remind you what really matters.

First Mothers Day

I cant believe my very first mothers was so wonderful that I forgot to take any pictures. Pitiful I know. But it deserves to be documented that my sweet husband got up with Eva, fed her breakfast, put her back in bed with me to snuggle and proceeded to fix me my favorite breakfast- pancakes and bacon. As my Dad asked, yes, he made them and did not go buy them! This is huge! Pancakes in our house are typically left to the experts but not this day. They were seriously better than Village Inn! Well done.

Then he surprised me with a necklace I'd been wanting forever. Well I'd been wanting a silver necklace with her name on it and he took it up a notch and got the very one I'd been eyeing! Gold star for paying attention honey and for surprising me with the very special token from "Eva" that will be close to my heart forever.

So I spent the rest of the day just being Mom and soaking up the time with her. Since our time during the week is so limited all I really wanted was a whole day of Mommy & Eva time and thats what I got.

While Jon went to practice for a little while we played, napped, ate, watched Jack's and just loved on each other. I couldnt get enough of her.

It was a sad afternoon as Jon had to leave us again for three weeks. I cant imagine not seeing her everyday for three weeks but he handled it semi-well. There was some stalling on all our parts but we know its only to get him in position to make all our dreams come true so I try not to complain but man we miss him! Alot!

My Mom stopped by for a little while - probably to see E more than me - but was thoughtful enough to bring dinner and my favorite desert so all in all- I'll chalk up my very first Mother's Day as a complete success.

I feel so blessed and grateful beyond words to be Eva's Mommy. I love it more and more everyday and just hope than she never questions that I love, adore, support, and pray for her everyday. Here's to many more special Mommy Days together!!
